"olie Douce à la Villa Conchiglia
Grottoes and follies embellished with shells and fountains graced the most beautiful gardens of Renaissance Italy.
At Chaumont sur Loire, la Villa Conchiglia (House of Shells) pays homage to this baroque style and to the feelings of mystery that it evokes.
In the gardens at Chaumont sur Loire, behind a shady pool, a wall of shells is half hidden behind a curtain of vegetation. There one finds Leda, seduced by Zeus in the form of a swan.
